I'd been tinkering with Raspberry Pis and sensors for some time when a friend recommended these devices, eventually bought a 5 pack despite being skeptical at the price. Turns out my doubt was completely missplaced. The NodeMcu are fantastic for controlling LEDs, reading sensors and displaying information with separate screens. WiFi seems to work very well. Plenty of documentation around the web for how to configure them. Currently got one configured on a breadboard with a DS18B20 thermometer and a ST7735 screen. Thermometer + Clock that keeps track of high and low temperate, with a button that resets the values. Fun little project.
